My Final Post to The MSR: WordPress (AKA My Official Hiatus)

Well, this is a bit awkward.

There’s no easy way for me to say this (even it’s to a pretty small audience), so I’ll just come out and say it:

This is going to be my final post to my WordPress blog — at least for awhile.

<><><><>

I’m going to be taking an extended hiatus from my WordPress site to focus on other projects that I will be doing this fall.

What does that mean, exactly? Well, if you’ve followed this blog for long enough (and I’m assuming that’s a select few of you), I’ve taken long, long breaks before – but that was because of school, work and your typical life stuff. What I mean this time is that I will be stepping away from the WordPress website indefinitely, while I try to expand the “Macho Sports Report” brand through other, more exposure-driven, avenues.

That said, this won’t be the last of me as a sports blogger. I will attempt a foray into a new sports blog — by the same name, by the way — on Medium.com. It was a suggestion by one of the people I trust most about a lot of stuff (business decisions, included), and I’m going to take the leap and give it a shot. If I can make a better reception there, it will likely be a permanent replacement to this website.

Furthermore, I have re-launched a foray into the Vlogging world (as you might have seen lately) – something I teased back in 2013, but, now, something I want to make a more regular presence in – and I will be focusing a lot of attention to making that the best it can be, as I put out content as often as I can.

I also want to give some attention to a joint venture with other local writers I hopped onto earlier this summer — WhatDoUWatch.com — and I hope to help that website grow along with my own exposure to the internets.

Ultimately, I have to think about this as a business decision. After all, sports writing and sports vlogging are things I want to make an actual career out of — this isn’t a hobby for me. I enjoy writing about sports, and I enjoy talking about sports. But I can’t remain stagnant — and, honestly, in the 6+ years I have been writing on this website, I have not been able to generate more than a few random views per day. I need to see if I can get more traffic based on my merit as a writer.

It comes down to the ol’ “If a tree falls in the forest” saying – and I want to make some noise in the sports blog landscape.

It’s been real. For those of you that follow me and read my stuff, I hope you follow me over to Medium, WhatDoUWatch, and the YouTubes. I’ll provide links below.

Good Night, and Good Luck.
